Learning Outcomes and Application This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to comply with greyhound racing industry ethics and to behave with integrity regarding the rules of racing and related protocols. It requires an understanding of the effects of noncompliance on the image of racing and on licensed or registered individuals.The unit applies to all individuals who participate in the greyhound racing industry, including owners, breeders, educators, trainers, assistants and trial track operators.Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements may apply to this unit. Refer to your state or territory Controlling Body or Principal Racing Authority for current licence or registration requirements.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

  • Identify licensing schemes, codes of practice and legislative requirements related to animal welfare in the greyhound industry
  • Interpret the rules of racing as they apply to own role, and follow their requirements
  • Determine acceptable and non-acceptable behaviour and practices
  • Display integrity in own behaviour, including reporting observed breaches to appropriate authorities
  • Follow directions and carry out requests given by stewards and officials

  • Deal with conflict openly and honestly to never jeopardise race integrity or animal welfare

Assessment Tasks
