Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Clarify assignment requirements.
  • Identify and confirm assignment requirements with client, including conditions of engagement, physical work environment and performance expectations.
  • Confirm attributes of team, physical work environment and performance expectations with other team members.
  • Negotiate agreed approach to achieve best quality and safest outcomes.
  • Collaborate as a team to obtain background materials, agree on terminology, and establish interpreting process.
  • Analyse physical work environment and collaborate on required adjustments.
  • Seek briefing to assess linguistic requirements and address technical concerns.
  • Introduce team to discourse participants and explain role and process of interpreting.

  • Rotate interpreting according to industry standards and in line with situation and established techniques.
  • Monitor other team members’ delivery, and prompt and feed, to facilitate and enhance colleague and team performance.

Assessment Tasks

Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
